History of congress

The International Congress of Physical and Health Education Teachers in Petrozavodsk for the first time in the history gathered in Russia representatives of the Russian and Western school of physical training. Up to that moment international cooperation of physical education teachers in Europe had been realized by European Physical Education Association (EUPEA) which consists of associations from 29 European countries. International congresses, seminars and courses for physical education teachers were organized by national association, institutes and business structures in Austria, Belgium, Sweden, Hungary, Italy, Estonia and Finland.

The International Congress of Physical and Health Education Teachers in Petrozavodsk was organized with the support of the Association of Physical and Health Educators in Finland. Cooperation with this Association started several years ago and continues in the frameworks of the project “Promotion of Heath Education and Healthy Lifestyle through Physical Training Lessons in Petrozavodsk Schools&rdquo. The project was launched in 2006 and has been implemented in three pilot schools: Lyceum № 1, school № 46 and school № 48. In the frameworks of the project realization a number of training courses and seminars were held in Petrozavodsk by Finnish experts with the aim of development and training of school health teams. Representatives of Petrozavodsk schools had an opportunity to take part in educational trips to Finland and Estonia and visit international seminars and conferences.

The congress in Petrozavodsk will be attended by many new instructors and lecturers from Russia which will provide a good forum of practical exercises, demonstrations and theory.
